Cooler weather, leaf-peeping, pumpkin spice lattes, Thanksgiving, Halloween, sweaters and scarves, football, campfires; these are a few of our favorite fall things! Fall is just around the corner! Fall is the perfect time to build a home, and the perfect time to bike or hike or even drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a wonderful time to enjoy the weather and the mountain views here at Ventana Asheville!

While it’s not quite fall yet, it’s almost time to pick the perfect pumpkin to don your doorstep for the season! Getting into the spirit of season can start with finding a farm and experiencing the fun of picking out pumpkins or future Jack-O-Lanterns. We are fortunate that our Asheville community is in a location where you can easily drive to a number of pumpkin patches to find the right pumpkin (or two).

Here are a few of our suggestions of a few local pumpkin patches to visit:

Hickory Nut Gap Farm, located in Fairview, NC just outside of Asheville is a great place to bring the family for pumpkin picking, apple picking, and all kinds of fall festivities. Enjoy a hay ride, horseback riding, cider press, and their corn maze. There are plenty of animals on this farm to observe and interact with too!

Sky Top Orchard is located in nearby Hendersonville and as the name suggests, it’s located at the top of Mt. McAlpine, offering some awesome views on top of your pumpkin and apple picking experience! There are animals on this farm too. You can also take a hay ride here. We’ve heard you have to try an Apple Cider Doughnut before you leave!

Grandad’s Apples N’ Such grows 5 acres of pumpkins each year, from baby pumpkins to extra large! While you’re there you can get lost in the 5-acre corn maze (another fall favorite, right?). Take home anything apple from fresh-picked apples, to apple butter, or hot cider. This orchard farm is located in Hendersonville, NC as well.

Eliada Home’s annual corn maze is a fun-filled experience, not just for picking pumpkins. It’s a whole evening or day of fun for the whole family, with it being named 1 of the top 12 corn mazes in the United States! There’s also a corn cannon, hay rides, spider web climber, slides, and more!
